The mark left by foul playing on the cricket career has been readily accepted by Steve Smith as he delivered his best to gave a shut-up call. In the first of the ashes test matches, the former captain scored hundred in both innings of the test match that played a vital role in comprehensive victory of 251 runs at Edgbaston. Steve Smith has become the first Australian to score hundred in both innings against England in England.  

Australia won the toss and decided to have a bat. At one stage Australia was 122 for 8 and, then Smith and Siddle put up a partnership of 88 runs for 9th wicket. Australia made 284 while, Smith scored 144. The solo fighter put his team in a very strong position.

In reply, Rory Joseph Burns scored 133 runs, scorings alongside were Joe Root and Ben Stokes. England put up 374 in the first innings and was in a strong position. Australian played good cricket in the second innings as Smith and Wade scored hundred. Australia scored 487 for 7 declared by setting the target of 398 runs. 

England performance in the third innings was very disappointing as they were all out for 146 runs. A comprehensive victory for Australia in the first of the ashes test matches. 
Rorey Joseph Burn became the first batsman in the history of test cricket to bat five days in a test match.
