A comfortable win for Sri Lankan cricket at Galle test as they win by 6 wickets. The only centurion of the match Dimuth Karunaratne was awarded man of the match. He scored 122 runs off 243 balls including six 4s and one 6. Captain Karunaratne scored his 9th red ball cricket hundred. Lahiru Thrimanne also batted well and, gave a solid start by putting up a partnership of 161 runs for the first wicket. He scored 64 off 163 balls. The match finished in the first session of day five. 

While batting 3rd in the match New Zealand scored 285 runs which was supposed to be a good total as chasing in 4th innings is never easy. But the Sri Lankan batsmen nicely tackles the Kiwis bowling. Apart from batting, there was some good bowling performance by Sri Lankan as well. Akila Dananjaya picked up 5 wickets in the first and 4 in the second innings, 9 wickets in total for the young lad with an economy of 2.63.

The solo fighter for New Zealand cricket Kane Williamson fails to deliver in the first test, while his senior partner Ross Taylor did score 86 in the second innings. New Zealand has recently beaten Pakistan in the test series in  Sub Continent. New Zealand has missed a chance of winning a Test series in Sri Lanka as they can only go for a draw in the two matches series.
