The Australian star batsman Steve Smith misses his third hundred of  Ashes by 8 runs. The wickets kept on falling from the one end as no one was able to score fifty while Smith, stood firm.

In the first innings of the second Ashes test, English cricket team was all out for 258 runs. Rory Joseph Burn and Jonny Bairstow scored the fifties while the white ball cricket master Jason Roy was out on a duck. Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon picked three wickets each. In reply to England 258, Australia only managed to score 250 in their first innings as Steve Smith scored 92 runs off 161 balls. When the wickets were falling from the other end, he stood firm on one end. He became the first Australian batsman to score seven consecutive fifties in English soil. At one stage the cricket ball hit him hard on the neck similar to Philip Hughes. Jofra Archer didn't intend that as Smith went out for the medical checkup and came back to bat later. He will have another examination by the doctor and physician later in the evening. England was eight runs ahead at the end of the first innings.

A poor cricket start by England in their second innings as Joe Root is out for a golden duck by Pat Cummins. Roy, Joseph Burn, and Denly also failed to contribute to the total. England is 96 for 4 and lead by 104 runs. The match is well under the control of Aussies. One batsman from English cricket needs to stand up and score 150 to save the second test. Day 5 of this test match will be very exciting to watch.
