Out of nowhere, Pakistan cricket has produced some sensational stuff. This tournament has gone alive now. New Zealand hasn't yet officially qualified for the semi-final. Unbeaten New Zealand has lost to Pakistan.

It rained heavily yesterday in Edgbaston Cricket Ground Birmingham, and the toss was delayed due to wet outfield. The pitch was dry and has very little bounce to offer. It was more like a UAE pitch today. It was a tough call by Kiwis to bat first knowing that Pakistan struggles while chasing. The ball was gripping in the surface, that's what deceive Guptill of the first ball he faced to Muhammad Aamer. More than Aamer it was Shaheen Afridi who put New Zealand on the backfoot by bowling some great length deliveries, and in fact, that catch by Sarfaraz was brilliant.

Not only with the ball but with the bat as well Pakistan outclassed Kiwis as Babar Azam scored a beautiful 100 off 126 balls. He was accompanied by stylish left-hander Harris Sohail who was Player of the match in the last ODI.

Talking about pitch, New Zealand just misread the conditions and their decision of not including Ish Sodhi in the playing XI was a big miss. Sodhi would have been quite handy with the Santner at the other end. As Nasir Hussain perfectly said it was looking like a 5th-day pitch of a test match. One more spinner and the result would have been different.

Muhammad Hafeez is really making it tough for himself against the part-timers. He was out to Finch, Markram and now Williamson. Three times he has thrown his wicket away after getting set. It must be some psychological pressure at the back of his mind.

Until now, everything has gone according to the 1992 format for Pakistan cricket. Will it end in a similar fashion?
