HBLPSL 2019 returns to Pakistan with some quality cricket for its fans. National Stadium Karachi was well decorated and organized to host the remaining 8 cricket matches. Pakistanis have put brilliant efforts to take the cricket and HBL PSL back to their home. Cricket-loving nation is very excited to see foreign players playing in Pakistan.

In the first match in National Stadium the skipper Fakhar Zaman won the coin toss and asked Islamabad United to bat first and they readily accepted the invitation. Luke Ronchi was caught in slip by Harris Sohail on the very first ball of the match by Shaheen Shah Afridi. At that very moment, it was felt that Islamabad United might not get a good start but hats off to Cameron Delport and Asif Ali who entertained the crowd in their own traditional style. Too many records were made tonight in National Stadium

•    Cameron Delport Scoring the fastest century of HBLPSL all seasons. He completed his 100 off just 49 balls. He scored 117 off 60 balls.
•    Asif Ali scoring fastest 50 off 17 balls and equals the record of Umar Akmal.
•    Islamabad United scored 238/3 in their 20 overs which is the highest total for any side in HBLPSL all seasons.
•    Faheem Ashraf picking up 6 wickets for 19 runs, leaving Hassan Ali behind as a leading wicket-taker of the HBLPSL season 4.
•    Shaheen Shah Afridi went for 62 in his 4 overs, which are the highest runs conceived by any bowler in HBLPSL.
•    31 sixes were struck which was the highest number of sixes in HBLPSL match.

239 runs was never an easy ask for Lahore Qalandars as the required run-rate started from almost 12. The absence of AB Devilliers and Muhammad Hafeez was seriously felt. Fakhar Zaman showed some resistance to the bowling side but at the same time he was just looking bit nervous and his emotions were all over him. He tried few orthodox shorts early in his innings which indicates the lack of confidence. He scored 38 off 20 balls. Sohail Akhter who had dropped Cameron Delport on 27 tries to turn things in Lahore’s favor but failed to do so. The solo fighter scored 75 off 34 balls. Lahore ended up on 189/9 and making it tough for themselves to remain in the tournament.

After looking at the ground dimension map many cricket fans were thinking that ground is too short for a match as the rope was pulled too inside and it was just 54 meters at square leg. One can say that the ground was short but, boundary length was not the reason for the high score, it was the beautiful batting wicket that provides the basis for a huge total to be posted. Because generally the cricket grounds in New Zealand are of the same length but we seldom find such T20s there. It was batting pitch that helped the Islamabad United to put a good total.
