West Indian Cricket Board has announced their cricket squad for the ICC cricket world cup 2019 on 24th of April.

The squad is well balanced and the best combination of junior and seniors. The "Universe Boss" Chris Gayle will make his 5th record appearance in the cricket world cup for West Indies. Gayle needs 253 runs to break the record of his fellow Great Brain Lara and, become the leading runs scorer for Windies in ODI cricket.

9 World Cup debutants for the Carribean side. The selection of the junior players is based on their great performances in the domestic and International leagues. They have a high potential to challenge and threat any opposition in the world cup. Andre Russel who is in the form of his life has been picked by the board and this is the wisest decision they have taken. Russell has recently joined West Indian team in a series against England after a long leave. The kind of form and class he has displayed in IPL is something more than extraordinary. And most importantly with the inclusion of Shimron Hetmyer, the winning captain of U19 World Cup West Indies has become a stronger side.

Alzarri Joseph and Sunil are not picked by West Indian Cricket Board due to their shoulder and finger injuries respectively. No Sammy, Pollard, and, Samuel for the World Cup. They haven't played ODI for the last couple of years but, Pollard should have been considered as a lower order batsman as he is good form and has the ability to turn the game around. He also adds one bowling option for the side. T20 champions are relying on too many youngsters for the major ODI tournament.

Overall it is a very balanced squad which may lack in experience but not in skills. If they clicked, they will dominate the game easily. With such a strong squad if not final, they must qualify for the semi-finals.

This will be last World Cup for the "Universe Boss" Chris Gayle. The World of Cricket will always miss your presence.
