Muhammad Aamer, who was an iconic bowler for Pakistan in the champion trophy final 2017 in England, has been dropped for the world cup. Aamer made his debut back in 2009 since then he hasn't played world cup in his entire career. Most probably the selectors had a looked at his recent performances which were not appealing.

Ahmad Shahzad and Umar Akmal were called for the yoyo test but, unable to make their place in the squad. There were also few rumors about Wahab Raiz and Usman Shinwari. Wahab Riaz bowled the dream spell in last world cup against Shane Watson, yet, fails to make an impact.

Looking at the Pakistan pace attack only Hassan Ali is experienced whereas Junaid Khan is making a come back while Husnain is a new entity. Shaheen Afridi has some real guts of fast bowling.

Shoaib Malik gets a chance to play ICC Cricket World Cup after 12 years. He has played his last World Cup in 2007. He will be probably the one who will retire after the World Cup 2019.

  1. My thoughts:

    Love the squad "Overall"

Its a surprise that Rizwan wasn't selected but nonetheless, I feel Abid's selection is great and also the fact that he is going as the backup Keeper so you don't got those back up keeper problems

I absolutely love the decision on Amir that the committee took. I don't think there could have been a better decision on him in regards to his recent form. Although I am a HUGE Amir fan, but I think selecting him for the England Series and giving him a chance to perform there and showcase weather he deserves a spot in the final 15 is the best decision. There will be a lot of pressure on him but I think this is for the best considering his form. And I hope that he gets a proper full chance in England so that the committee can take a final decision based on his performance in that series.

Mohammad Hassnain is just a fluke selection tbh. I have no idea why he didn't play the Pakistan Cup. He should have played it so we could have had a better idea of his performances because as of recent there was no place for him in this squad so its just a fluke and a pathetic selection. This selection of Hassnain reminds me of how Ehsan Adil was selected in the 2015 World Cup squad. Ehsan was a pathetic selection and so is Hassnain. So I really hope Amir performs and kicks out Hassnain from this squad. (But just saying if we were to put Hassnain and Faheem infront of me, I would pick Hassnain on any day 😂😂😂)

On the other hand Asif Ali selected in the 17 for the England squad... LIKE OMG THAT IS THE WORST SELECTION IN HISTORY
Asif Ali didn't perform AT ALL in the Pakistan Cup so I have no idea what was the criteria for his selection because even his past performances are pathetic and he has shown that he has a very very limited stroke range. I mean Umar scored amazing in the Pakistan Cup. Although to be honest, I would neither pick Umar nor Asif for the WC Squad because both are pathetic tbh, but just keeping in mind the performances of the Pakistan Cup, I think this decision of dropping Umar and selecting Asif was really really harsh on Umar compared to his Pakistan Cup performances against Asif Ali.

And lastly, the selection of Shoaib Malik haha
Well I have been saying this for months and months and months, actually over a year. He is the most pathetic batsman in the whole squad in the English conditions. He avgs 13 in England for someone who is actually the most senior player in the whole squad. So I hope and pray that the same happens with him that happened with Younis Khan in the 2015 World Cup. Younis failed infront of everyone and then was forcefully dropped because never performed in Australia in ODIs before and he could never do it in the last stages of his ODI career as well. Same is the case with Malik. Unlike Hafeez, Malik hasn't improved his batting in Fast Bowling conditions at all. So hopefully he fails just like Younis did and then "possibly" "maybe" "somehow" my life long wish of him being dropped would come true haha.

But like I said in the first line, "Overall" its a really good squad and hoping good things for Pakistan in this WC. I hope Shaheen, Junaid and Hasan would be in good forms so they can lead the way for our win in this WC. And I hope the day comes when Haris Sohail would be preferred over Shoaib Malik xD.
Sorry Malik Fanboys, but the bitter truth is that Malik is a pathetic batsman in fast bowling conditions.

    Peace!
